Will Cook

Will has a broad commercial practice encompassing civil fraud, commercial litigation and arbitration, construction & engineering, disciplinary & regulatory work, offshore litigation, insurance and professional liability.

Will practises primarily in the High Court (Commercial and Circuit Commercial Courts, Chancery Division and TCC), in domestic and international arbitration, and in proceedings before various disciplinary tribunals. He is frequently instructed as sole Counsel and as part of a larger Counsel team, working with other Counsel from both inside and outside of Chambers.

Will is ranked as “Up and Coming” in Chambers & Partners and as a “Rising Star” in the Legal 500 for Professional Negligence, where he is variously described as “outstanding”, “very clever”, “user friendly”, “bright, thorough”, “the whole package” and a “phenomenally clever junior who contribute[s] far beyond his call”.

His clients particularly value his advocacy skills, and he has appeared unled against KCs on multiple occasions. The directories describe him as “a great advocate who’s not afraid of big hitters”, and as someone who “wipe[s] the floor with” more senior opponents.

Current and recent highlights of Will’s practice include:

• Abraaj v KPMG: Will (led by Ben Hubble KC and Daniel Edmonds of Fountain Court) is instructed for the claimants in a $600m+ audit negligence claim in the DIFC Courts arising out of the collapse of the largest private equity group in the Middle East. The case is listed for a 12-week trial in 2027, which would be the longest trial ever heard in the DIFC Courts.
• SRA v Hutchings: acted (led by Ben Hubble KC) for a senior partner accused of dishonesty and lack of integrity before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal. Following a one-week trial in October 2025, which attracted considerable media attention, all of the charges against Will’s client were dismissed.
• Atten Bidco Ltd v Assassa [2025] EWHC 2347 (Comm): instructed (led by George Spalton KC) for the successful claimant in a multi-million pound breach of warranty claim arising out of the acquisition of an IT consultancy business. Judgment was handed down in favour of the claimant following a two-week trial in July 2025.
• Glenn v Walker [2025] EWHC 1286 (Ch): instructed for the claimants in £18m+ claims brought in the Chancery Division for breach of fiduciary and unlawful means conspiracy. The proceedings also involved derivative claims brought under the Companies Act 2006. Will appeared unled at the CMC, and (led by Roger Stewart KC) at the two-week trial in March/April 2025.
• Goldkorn v MPA (Construction Consultants) Ltd [2025] EWHC 385 (TCC); [2025] PNLR 18: instructed (as sole Counsel, against a KC and junior) in the successful defence of a c. £3m TCC claim against project managers arising out of the development of a luxury restaurant in Soho. The Court held following a trial of preliminary issues in February 2025 that the claimant had no title to sue, either as assignee or as beneficiary using the Vandepitte procedure. An attempt to substitute the correct claimant following judgment was dismissed as an abuse of process – [2025] EWHC 660 (TCC).
• Darcliffe Homes Ltd v Glanville Consultants Ltd [2024] EWHC 3184 (TCC); [2025] PNLR 11 instructed (led by Sian Mirchandani KC) in the successful defence of a c. £7.5m TCC claim against engineering consultants arising out of ground dissolution at a large housing development in Berkshire. The claim was dismissed on causation grounds following a one-week trial in October 2024. Will cross-examined all three of the claimant’s factual witnesses and made oral submissions on causation at trial.

Prior to joining Chambers, Will graduated from Oxford with a first class degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics before studying the GDL and BPTC at City as a scholar of Gray’s Inn. He previously represented England at the World Schools Debating Championships, winning the tournament in 2014 while also being named the best individual speaker.
