Carola has experience of challenging and high-profile multi-party litigation. Several of her recent instructions have had multi-jurisdictional aspects. She is comfortable dealing with complex quantum issues and has experience of specialist proceedings, including claims under the Arbitration Act and under the Financial Services and Markets Act.

Featured Commercial Dispute Resolution cases

• Acted in s.90A FSMA securities fraud claims against both G4S plc and Serco plc, led by Andrew Onslow KC (3VB) and Shail Patel KC. Serco was one of The Lawyer’s Top 20 Cases of 2024, and the first group securities fraud claim to reach trial.
• Suppipat & Ors v Narongdej & Ors [2023] EWHC 1988 (Comm): acted on behalf of the successful claimants in a 19-week fraud trial with a significant foreign law dimension, in which damages of £850m were awarded (led by Justin Fenwick KC and George Spalton KC). The case was one of The Lawyer’s Top 20 Cases of 2022.
• Acted on behalf of institutional investors in securities fraud claims under ss.90 and 90 FSMA against Barclays plc, led by Jonathan Nash KC (3VB) and Alex Barden KC (Fountain Court).
• HPII (In Liquidation) & Others v Ruhan & Stevens [2022] EWHC 383 (Comm): led by George Spalton KC in a three-week, £100m Commercial Court trial before Foxton J, involving allegations of fraudulent breach of directors’ duties, equitable compensation and dishonest assistance, as well as complex limitation issues.
• 4VVV Ltd and Others v Spence & Others: instructed by the successful claimants in a complex and long running fraud group action arising from the collapse of a multi-million pound property investment scheme (led by Daniel Saoul KC).
• A v B [2025] EWHC 798 (Comm): acting, as sole counsel, in a complex Arbitration Act claim raising novel points of law regarding the ability of an arbitral tribunal to amend its award once made. A one-day hearing before the Court of Appeal is listed for January 2026.
• Acting on behalf of a financial services firm in its defence of an unfair prejudice petition (led by Tom Shepherd).
• Instructed on behalf of a claimant payment services provider in respect of its claim for restitution of sums paid in reliance on an incorrect FX rate (led by Ben Smiley).
• Instructed, as sole counsel, in respect of enforcement proceedings (including an examination order) arising from a successful breach of contract claim.
