Probationary Tenancy

We invite applications from potential Probationary Tenants (formerly third six pupils) who are due to complete pupillage this year (2025).

We only recruit Probationary Tenants who we believe have the potential to become successful members of 4 New Square Chambers.

Applications for probationary tenancy will be judged according to the selection criteria used throughout our pupillage recruitment process and the interview will consist of one round. Please visit our Pupillage page to read more about what we look for.

Chambers provides an award of £85,000 per annum, pro rata to the term of the probationary tenancy.

All applications should be made via a CV, reference (from Head of Pupillage or Pupil Supervisor) and covering letter, which should include a summary of previous experience and reasons for applying to 4 New Square Chambers.

Applications will be considered in confidence.  They should be sent by email to pupillage@4newsquare.com.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis but should be made as soon as possible.

Background Image

‘My supervisors were wholeheartedly committed to helping me improve and gave me detailed feedback on my work. I enjoyed the breadth and depth of the work I saw during pupillage, which were mostly ‘live’ work on my supervisor’s on-going cases. The learning curve is steep and it was a demanding year, but also a very rewarding one.’
