Kelly Yu is a commercial junior with experience across all of Chambers’ practice areas. She has a particular focus on general commercial litigation, construction, intellectual property, sports, professional negligence, and arbitration.
Prior to commencing pupillage at 4 New Square, Kelly worked as a case manager at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), administering domain name disputes and undertaking a variety of alternative dispute resolution work. She completed the HKIAC Tribunal Secretary Training Programme with Distinction.
She is committed to pro bono work. She has previously worked for the Citizens Advice Bureau and as a legal representative for the Free Representation Unit (FRU).

Kelly has experience of institutional arbitration from her previous role as Case Manager at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, including undertaking and passing tribunal secretary training. Kelly has particular experience in intellectual property disputes, administering over 100 domain name disputes.
Kelly has had experience of various construction-related cases, including cases involving architects, contract administrators, civil and structural engineers, and employers. She has good understanding of expert evidence and the unique substantive and procedural points which arise in construction proceedings.
In her previous role as a Case Manager at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, Kelly was involved with the introduction of the Hong Kong Security of Payment (Adjudication) Bill and worked with construction professionals in the Hong Kong government’s Working Group for the same.
Kelly has a wide range of experience in cases involving intellectual property disputes, including trademark infringement, copyright infringement, confidentiality, and passing off.
Kelly has institutional experience of intellectual property disputes from her previous role as Case Manager at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, including administering over 100 domain name disputes involving trademarks in various jurisdictions worldwide. Kelly has spoken at international conferences on the topic of intellectual property disputes, including at the Asian International Arbitration Centre and the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre.
Kelly has experience of commercial disputes involving a range of sporting organisations and players.
Kelly has experience of cases involving allegations of fraud and is familiar with the procedural tools (such as freezing injunctions) commonly used in fraud cases.
Kelly has a wide range of experience on professional negligence cases, particularly in claims involving construction professionals, solicitors, and barristers.
Kelly has experience in cases involving public law issues, including those involving issues of property rights.
While working at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, Kelly was a member of UNCITRAL Working Group II (Dispute Resolution) which considered technology-related dispute resolution and settlement of commercial disputes through adjudication.
