Kelly Yu studied English Literature at Durham University with a full scholarship under the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme, graduating with First Class Honours. She subsequently read Law at Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge, graduating with First Class Honours and undertaking paid research assistance roles for academics at Cambridge. She was then awarded the Frank Quickfall Scholarship from Gray’s Inn. She completed the Bar Training Course at BPP University, achieving a Distinction.
Prior to commencing pupillage at 4 New Square, Kelly worked as a case manager at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), administering domain name disputes and undertaking a variety of alternative dispute resolution work. She completed the HKIAC Tribunal Secretary Training Programme with Distinction.
She is committed to pro bono work. She has previously worked for the Citizens Advice Bureau and as a legal representative for the Free Representation Unit (FRU).
She speaks Cantonese and Mandarin.
