Helena Spector practices in commercial, public and inquisitorial law. She is ranked as a Rising Star in the Legal 500 2024 where she is described as an “incredible junior” and is praised as being “persuasive, knowledgeable and utterly committed”. She has been instructed in a wide range of sensitive and high-profile cases, including representing postmasters whose convictions were overturned following the Bates and Ors v Post Office Limited [2019] EWHC 606 (QB) litigation and has acted as junior counsel to the Covid-19 Inquiry.
Before practising at the Bar, Helena worked in the field of asylum and human rights in South Africa and the UK. She has assisted on cases involving Boko Haram, statelessness and interregional conflict.
Helena has an excellent academic record. She obtained a Double First in her undergraduate degree at Clare College, Cambridge and a Distinction in her postgraduate degree at Trinity Hall, Cambridge. She was awarded three scholarships from Inner Temple, including the Duke of Edinburgh Award, and graduated with an Outstanding from the Bar Training Course at City, University of London.
