Alex Forzani is a commercial junior who practices in commercial, financial services and public law. He has a particular focus on securities litigation, insurance and professional liability matters. He has appeared unled in both substantive and procedural hearings.
Before joining chambers, Alex practised as a solicitor at Allen & Overy and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton. He developed a substantial financial services practice advising banks, investment firms and funds on all aspects of EU and UK financial services regulation. He is the co-author of a chapter in Financial Markets and Exchanges Law (Oxford University Press, 2021) and a member of the Financial Services Lawyers Association.
Between September 2020 – August 2021, he served as the judicial assistant to Lord Leggatt JSC and worked on a number of high-profile appeals whilst at the UK Supreme Court including the FCA COVID-19 Business Interruption Test Case [2021] UKSC 1, Manchester Building Society v Grant Thornton [2021] UKSC 20, FS Cairo (Nile Plaza) LLC v Brownlie [2021] UKSC 45 and Lloyd v Google [2021] UKSC 50.
Alex has extensive experience advising on financial services matters from his time as a solicitor. He advised numerous firms on the EU and UK regulatory perimeters as well as the impact of Brexit on their businesses.

During pupillage, Alex worked on a number of professional negligence cases with a particular focus on defending claims against solicitors.
Prior to joining chambers, Alex was the sole judicial assistant assigned to the FCA COVID-19 business interruption Test Case, a landmark decision which examined the impact of COVID-19 on hundreds of thousands of policyholders. During pupillage, he worked on a number of matters which required detailed knowledge of the Supreme Court’s judgment.
