Alex joined chambers in September 2023 as a probationary tenant. He is developing a broad practice in line with 4 New Square’s areas of expertise.
Before coming to the Bar, Alex practised as a solicitor at Allen & Overy LLP and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP where he advised banks, investment firms and funds on all aspects of EU and UK financial services regulation (in particular the changes introduced by the onshoring of legislation as a result of Brexit).
Between September 2020 – August 2021, he served as the judicial assistant to Lord Leggatt JSC and worked on a number of high-profile cases at the Supreme Court including the FCA COVID-19 Business Interruption Test Case  UKSC 1, Manchester Building Society v Grant Thornton  UKSC 20, FS Cairo (Nile Plaza) LLC v Brownlie  UKSC 45 and Lloyd v Google  UKSC 50.
Alex read History at Christ’s College Cambridge where he was awarded a Senior Scholarship alongside several prizes including the Levy-Plumb Prize.
