Alex has extensive experience advising on financial services matters. He advised numerous firms on the EU and UK regulatory perimeters as well as the impact of the changes to legislation and regulation resulting from Brexit.

Recent work includes:

• Various Investors v G4S Ltd: claims under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 including a significant disclosure application ([2023] EWHC 2863 (Ch)) (as a pupil assisting Shail Patel KC and Ed Grigg).
• Acting for an international payments company in a restitutionary claim against a foreign exchange trading platform (as sole counsel).
• Advice to a European commodities broker on duties owed to it by a UK bank (with Shail Patel KC).
• Advice to a UK corporate on the UK insurance perimeter (with Shail Patel KC).

Other Matters

Outside of banking and financial services matters, representative cases include:

• Acting in multi-million dollar civil proceedings arising out of the collapse of Greensill Capital (with Roger Stewart KC and Marie-Claire O’Kane).
• Acting for an international fashion wholesaler in a high-value contractual dispute with its supplier (with Shail Patel KC).
• Acting for a utilities company in a jurisdiction challenge to an arbitration award under a statutory arbitration scheme (with Richard Liddell KC).
