Alex Forzani

Alex accepts instructions across 4 New Square’s practice areas but has a particular interest in securities litigation and banking and financial services matters (building on his prior experience as a corporate lawyer advising banks, investment firms and asset managers). He regularly delivers training on these topics to firms.

Recent highlights include:

• Acting for claimant groups in the Barclays, G4S and Standard Chartered proceedings brought under section 90 / 90A of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000.
• Acting for a US hedge fund in multi-million dollar civil fraud proceedings arising out of the collapse of Greensill capital.
• Acting as sole counsel for an international payments company in its claims against a foreign exchange trading platform.
• Advising an international commodities broker on duties owed to it by UK banks.
• Advising a UK corporate on the financial services perimeter.

Alex also has significant experience of substantial and procedural issues in broader commercial disputes.

Recent highlights include:

• Acting for a major utilities company in a jurisdiction challenge to an arbitration award (Cadent Gas Limited v CityFibre Limited [2025] EWHC 910 (Comm) (with Richard Liddell KC)).
• Acting for a property developer in its professional negligence claim against its former solicitors (Manchester Property Development Holdings v Kuit Steinart Levy LLP [2025] EWHC 35 (Comm) (with Neil Hext KC and Hannah Daly)).
• Acting for an international fashion retailer in the successful resolution of a high-value contractual dispute with its supplier (with Shail Patel KC).
• Acting as sole counsel for a surveyor in a professional negligence claim brought by its former clients (successfully resolved in the surveyor’s favour).
