Are You Up to Date with 2024’s Key Professional Liability Cases?

Each January, a team from 4 New Square Chambers publishes a comprehensive article summarising the key developments in professional negligence and coverage from the past year.

Read the article here.

Join the team who wrote the roundup for a live webinar where they will dive deeper into these topics. We are offering two sessions, both covering the same content, so you can choose the time that works best for you:

  • 23 January 2025 at 1:00 PM (Lunchtime Session)
  • 28 January 2025 at 5:00 PM (Evening Session)

The webinars will cover significant 2024 case law and delve into topics such as:

  • Lawyers’ Cases: Client sophistication, limitation, group instructions, immunity from suit, plus costs and consumer rights.
  • Brokers’ Claims: What you need to prove—and whether loss of a chance is enough.
  • Valuers’ and Surveyors’ Cases: how the tests work, and what happens if a surveyor and client are alleged to have conspired.
  • Illegality: whether it still works as a defence, and if so when.
  • Secret commissions: what professionals need to know from other recent developments in this area.
  • Contribution Act: Recent challenges to its operation.
  • Insurance Issues: Including the Third Parties (Rights Against Insurers) Act 2010 and aggregation.

The webinars will be led by Helen Evans KC, Ben Smiley, Pippa Manby, Marie-Claire O’Kane, and Will Cook.

Please note the lunchtime seminar on 23rd January is now at capacity. To RSVP to our evening session on 28th January, please email our events team at events@4newsquare.com.
