Maria Ressa awarded Nobel Peace Prize
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has awarded the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize to two journalists Maria Ressa and Dmitry Muratov “for their efforts to safeguard freedom of expression, which is a precondition for democracy and lasting peace.”
Ms. Ressa is an award-winning journalist who is subject to a number of civil and criminal actions for her journalistic work in the Philippines. She is represented by Can Yeginsu of 4 New Square Chambers, together with Amal Clooney, Caoilfhionn Gallagher QC, and Claire Overmann of Doughty Street Chambers, and a team from Covington & Burling in Washington D.C.
