We are delighted that 4 New Square Chambers’ Lionel Nichols and Paul Fisher will be speaking at the English Law Day in Armenia on Thursday 8 June 2023. The conference is being hosted by CIS Forum in association with The British Embassy in Yerevan and The Bar Council of England & Wales and will be opened by His Excellency Mr John Gallagher, the British Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia.
Lionel and Paul will be speaking on arbitration and English law practices. The event will also address sanctions: implementation and identification, asset tracing intricacies as well as private client considerations and matrimonial disputes.
Lionel has experience acting under all major institutional rules, including ICSID, ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL and CIArb. His practice comprises complex cross-border disputes and disputes with an international dimension. The sectors covered by this practice include banking & financial services, commodities and international trade, and energy & infrastructure, with a focus on Africa, CIS & Russia, as well as offshore jurisdictions. He has also advised both claimants and States in relation to potential claims under bilateral and multilateral investment treaties. Lionel also sits as an arbitrator and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Paul has a developing international arbitration practice with experience of ICC, DIAC and QICCA institutional rules. He spent a year working for one of the leading law firms in the Middle East dealing primarily with arbitrations arising throughout the region, which took him to Lebanon, Oman, the UAE and Qatar. During that time he gained acute experience of the civil codes of the region.
