Isabel Barter will be presenting an interactive IUA Large Loss Liability Workshop with Kennedys, aimed at junior practitioners working in the liability market.
This practical masterclass will explore the key aspects of investigating and managing large loss property damage claims, using a detailed case study based on a fire-related property damage claim. The session is designed to provide attendees with a clear, structured understanding of the lifecycle of a large loss claim, from initial notification through to resolution.
The workshop will cover:
- Practical steps to take following initial notification to insurers
- Claim investigation, including expert selection, witness enquiries, destructive examinations, and disclosure obligations
- Next steps following receipt of a formal Letter of Claim, including consideration of alleged causes of action, drafting the Letter of Response, instruction of counsel, and potential counterclaims or recoveries
- Approaches to quantum investigation
- Strategic decision-making in relation to settlement and defence, including settlement strategy versus CMC, PTR, and trial
The session will be highly interactive, with a strong focus on real-world application and discussion, offering valuable insight into best practice for managing complex property damage claims.
