Accountants, Auditors & Actuaries
Many members of chambers have extensive experience of claims against accountants concerning the audit of companies and related work, including claims in a regulatory context, whether financial services (the Maxwell litigation) or banking (BCCI). We bring to such cases a firm grasp of company accounts, the audit process and applicable Statements of Auditing Standards, GAAP, etc. as well as an understanding of the respective roles of auditors and management, both in theory and in practice.
Claims against accountants for allegedly negligent advice, including tax and business advice, are also a regular feature of our work. Cases in which we have acted have covered topics as diverse as domestic and international takeovers, enterprise zones and business and incorporation advice.
