A recent seminar in Istanbul brought together leading practitioners from the United States, Germany, Russia, Turkey as well as England and Wales to discuss the challenges of cross-border litigation in their respective jurisdictions.
Can Yeginsu of 4 New Square, whose talk explored some of the reasons behind the continuing popularity of England and Wales as a forum for the resolution of commercial disputes between foreign parties, also discussed recent cases in which the English Courts have taken jurisdiction over disputes which have little or no connection with England and Wales. His talk has been published in this month’s issue of Commercial Dispute Resolution (CDR).
The others speakers at the seminar were as follows: Jennifer L. Gorskie (Partner, Chaffetz Lindsey, USA), Varvara Knutova (Partner, Head of Dispute Resolution, Pepeliaev Group, Russia), Dr Stephan Bausch (Partner, Dispute Resolution, Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH, Germany), and Orçun Çetinkaya (Partner, Litigation, Mehmet Gün & Partners, Turkey).
