Pupillage at 4 New Square
A pupillage at 4 New Square will give you a real insight into what it is like to practise in a leading commercial set of chambers. Our 63 barristers have a strong reputation for insurance work, professional negligence, construction, product liability and financial services.
We take at least three pupils each year and aim to offer them all a first-class training. This includes as much practical advocacy work as possible.

What’s on offer?
We offer up to four 12-month pupillages each year.
We occasionally offer second six month pupillages and sometimes third six month pupillages to exceptional candidates.

Funding and awards
Each of the four 12-month pupillages carries in 2008/9 an annual award of £37,500 with a further guaranteed second-six-month earnings of £7,500. No expenses are due to chambers during the second six months and pupils may keep any earnings above this sum. Up to a third of the annual award may be drawn down during the BVC year.

4 New Square is a member of the OLPAS scheme and applications for pupillage are accepted only through that scheme. We are registered for the OLPAS summer season.

Deadlines

Tenancy decisions are made around late June of each year.
