Profile
Michael Soole practises across a wide range of commercial/civil litigation.

His particular current emphasis is on professional negligence claims in the construction industry, other building contract disputes, the interpretation of professional indemnity and other insurance policies, disputes concerning guarantees and performance bonds, and claims against lawyers, valuers and other professionals.

Beyond these areas, the continuing breadth of his other commercial/civil work is seen from the list of his reported cases in the Queens Bench and Chancery Divisions, Court of Appeal and House of Lords. The range includes partnership disputes, contested wills, real property, employment, clinical negligence and aviation. In April 2003 he appeared in the House of Lords (Actionstrength v. International Glass/St Gobain [2003] 2 AC 541 : oral guarantee) upholding the Statute of Frauds 1677 against a claim of estoppel.

Whilst enjoying the advisory work in his practice, Michael is particularly stimulated by the demands and challenges of advocacy at every level. His experience extends across all divisions and levels of the Courts and Tribunals. He has a particular interest in cross-examination, especially of expert witnesses in areas of technical difficulty and complexity.
