Jonathan’s practice covers several fields of civil and commercial law.
In the area of insurance law, he advises and acts for a range of major insurers and underwriting agencies in litigation and arbitration. He has particular experience in public/products liability, property, motor, professional indemnity and legal expenses insurance. He has acted for a consortium of insurers in their long-running disputes with accident management companies. Outside litigation, he has experience in advising on, and drafting, policy documents, binding authority agreements, etc.
His practice covers a broad range of professional liability disputes, including cases concerning lawyers, insurance professionals, surveyors and financial professionals.
He has special expertise in consumer law, with a particular focus on consumer credit and financial regulation (including non-contentious advisory and drafting work).
In the field of public and administrative law, he has general experience of judicial review claims and particular expertise in the law relating to coroners. He regularly advises a number of coroners and has appeared in many of the leading recent cases in the Higher Courts. He was counsel to the inquiry in the Inquests into the deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales, and Dodi Al Fayed and counsel to the inquiry in the Inquest into the death of Jean-Charles de Menezes. He is currently counsel to the inquiry in the Potters Bar Rail Crash Inquests.
