Profile

Anneliese has developed a strong commercial practice focusing principally on the areas of professional liability, construction, engineering and environmental law and insurance/ reinsurance.

She has been consistently rated as a leading junior in respect of professional negligence and construction work by both Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500 over a number of years.  In such publications, Anneliese has been variously described as:

"remarkably quick on the uptake", "impressing with her paperwork skills and strength on her feet", "standing out even when she is the second junior in a large team", a "first-rate advocate, often against quite senior barristers, and popular with the clients", "responsive and easy to deal with", “combining intellectual strength with good junior work”, “notable for her exemplary work” and “a rising star”.

Anneliese’s biggest but most exhilarating challenge in recent months was her representation of a pathological gambler in a claim against William Hill in which appeared unled against Justin Fenwick Q.C..  However, she is equally at home working as part of a large team involved in multi party litigation.  She is a firm believer in seeking to bring added value to any case whatever her role.

Anneliese has been appointed as Junior Counsel to the Crown (B Panel) since 2005 and enjoys the variety this brings to her practice.

Anneliese has an extremely strong academic background.  After studying law at Cambridge (where she obtained a first), Anneliese was awarded a Kennedy Scholarship and spent a successful year at Harvard. On returning to the U.K. she came fifth in Bar Finals.  She thrives on the cut and thrust of the court room but also aims to bring commerciality to the cases she is involved in.

Anneliese is one of the editors of Jackson & Powell on Professional Liability and is also a contributor to Human Rights & Civil Practice

The Directories
Anneliese has been listed for a number of years in both Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500 as a leading professional negligence junior. She is also recommended and rated as a leading junior in the construction section of both directories

In this year's edition of The Legal 500 Anneliese is described as being "remarkably quick on the uptake" and as "impressing with her paperwork skills and strength on her feet".

The construction section of Chambers & Partners 2005 stated that Anneliese stood out " even when she is the second junior in a large team, as she was in the Panatown litigation" and that she was felt to be a "first-rate advocate, often against quite senior barristers, and popular with the clients."

This year's edition of Chambers & Partners again notes her advocacy skills in the construction sphere whilst in relation to professional negligence she is described as being "responsive and easy to deal with".
