Charles has a broad commercial and property-based practice. His commercial litigation work encompasses sale of goods and banking law, and he has substantial experience of insurance and reinsurance disputes, advising a variety of major insurers especially as to coverage in cases of suspected fraud. He acts regularly in landlord and tenant matters, and has developed a specialist professional negligence practice which in recent years has focused particularly on lenders' claims against lawyers and surveyors and valuers. Construction, engineering and environmental law is another major part of his practice, and his general common law experience includes personal injury, clinical negligence and health law, civil actions against the police and claims involving misfeasance in public office.
